Why does every episode of this show feel like it's ninety minutes long? The fate of the free world doesn't rest on sketch comedy. The fate of network television doesn't rest on sketch comedy. Nevertheless, nice try. Welcome back, Matthew Perry. And welcome, period, Amanda Peet. Enjoy it while it lasts, whatever it is.

Somehow, some way, 30 Rock is miles better. Actually, I think the answers are "Alec Baldwin" and "a sense of humor." Neither seems particularly necessary though. Do we really need two hourlong dramadies about the making of network sketch comedy shows, one featuring people who actually were making a network sketch comedy show only a year ago? Network TV is busily swallowing its own asshole.
