Phenomenally clever and bursting with bright ideas, a sly and sincere film that manages to sidestep conspicuous consumption and go straight for the heart. The voice acting is pitch-perfect, Randy Newman's score is swell, and, once again, the boys at Pixar break new ground in animated reality. (Bonus points for that adorable dachshund puppy.) A shot of pure pixel-pounding feel-good energy.
